Directions for Purchasing the PW Online Textbook

Some sections of ENGL 420 and 421 use the same electronic textbook (ebook). Instructors may require additional or alternative texts, however, so be sure to check the course description before you buy anything. The textbook is Professional Writing Online, 3e (abbreviated as PW Online).

Students can purchase access to the book on the Web or at the student bookstores at Purdue.

Here's what you need to do to purchase online:

1. Be ready to pay with a valid credit card. In Aug. 2008, the online purchase price was $48.00.
2. Go to http://wps.ablongman.com/long_porter_pwo_3
3. Click on "Buy Now" and follow the instructions.
4. Be sure to write down your login name and password!

Here's what you need to do to purchase at a Purdue bookstore:

1. Go to one of the student bookstores near campus (Follett's, University Bookstore) and buy the code packet for PW Online.. The book is used in numerous sections of ENGL 420 and 421, so there should be plenty of copies. Cost is about $50.00. The packet includes a temporary passcode for logging into the online text.

If you want to purchase a code packet directly from Pearson Education, you can perhaps save some money. The current list price is $42.67, and shipping of the code packet is free. PW Online, 3rd ed., at Pearson's online bookstore
